SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) — Somerset residents have voted to approve alcohol sales in the south-central Kentucky city that has been legally dry for decades.
Alcohol sales will be allowed at stores, restaurants and other businesses in the city nestled near Lake Cumberland. Somerset was the largest city in Kentucky, with about 11,200 residents, with an alcohol ban that dated back to Prohibition, the Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/LqTvf7) reported. The unofficial vote from Tuesday was 2,167 to 1,464.
