Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel announced Wednesday her intention to run for a third consecutive term as chairwoman of the Republican Party.
McDaniel has already garnered the support of 120 out of 168 members of the Republican National Committee for her third term and said it was that broad support that guided her decision to run again.
“While I am proud to have the support of President Trump, Senate Majority Leader McConnell, and House Minority Leader McCarthy in my bid for reelection, it is the endorsement of the 168 members of this committee that matters most, and I am incredibly humbled to have the endorsements of over 120 members at this time,” McDaniel wrote in a letter announcing her candidacy.
McDaniel has supported Trump’s many legal challenges at the state level regarding the results of the 2020 presidential election, and McDaniel’s letter made it clear she intends to “build” on the successes of Trump’s policy agenda.
“President Trump earned more minority votes than any Republican candidate in decades, and a record number of women, minorities, and veterans were elected to office,” McDaniel wrote. “This is a legacy our Party can be proud of, and we must continue to build on this historic momentum.”
McDaniel’s two terms leading the GOP have been accentuated by more than $1 billion raised for GOP candidates and an expanded party infrastructure, including over 3,000 new field staff and 2.6 million grassroots volunteers.
In the letter, she said that she intends to speak with every member of the committee to hear their concerns about a third term.
“I have reached out to many of you to discuss the numerous strengths of our Party, as well as areas where we can improve,” McDaniel wrote. “I have learned a lot from my conversations with you all, and I will continue making calls until I speak to each of you personally.”
