Trump on North Korea missile tests: ‘I don’t consider that a breach of trust’

President Trump said North Korea’s most recent missile tests are not “a breach of trust” amid stalled nuclear talks.

In a Friday interview with Politico, the president said the launch of short-range ballistic missiles were “very standard stuff.”

“They’re short-range and I don’t consider that a breach of trust at all. And, you know, at some point I may. But at this point no,” he said. “These were short-range missiles and very standard stuff. Very standard.”

Trump said he may lose trust in North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in the future, “but right now not at all.”

The Hermit Kingdom fired two short-range missiles Thursday, it’s second test of such weapons in less than a week.

“They’re talking about negotiating, but I don’t think they’re ready to negotiate,” Trump said after the missile launch.

Trump and Kim’s second summit in Vietnam in February abruptly ended after the two sides could not reach an agreement on North Korea’s disarmament.
