Hillary campaign plans to refute ‘Clinton Cash’ claims through blog posts

John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, announced the campaign’s intention to create a “one-stop shop” for debunking the “outlandish claims” in Clinton Cash, the book by Peter Schweizer that alleges donors to the Clinton Foundation received special treatment from the State Department while Hillary Clinton served as secretary of state.

Podesta said a new website called “The Briefing” would soon provide “direct access to the facts on the positive policy agenda that Hillary will unveil over the course of campaign, as well as the facts needed to debunk false attacks” in a post Monday evening on the website Medium, hours before the book was set to hit shelves.

“You will be able to find information and it will serve as a hub that allows Hillary for America to cut through the partisan noise over the next 18 months and directly communicate with voters,” Podesta wrote of The Briefing.

“This plan will also enable us to organize our supporters and mobilize them to actively participate in challenging false attacks against Hillary’s record.”

The pro-Hillary website will include a coordinated fleet of social media accounts “to deliver fact-based messages about Hillary Clinton and the work of the Clinton Foundation to the public.”

Podesta’s blog post addressing the controversy comes amid criticism over the Clinton campaign’s refusal to answer questions about the family foundation or the allegations that the State Department provided favors for groups that wrote Bill Clinton and his charity big checks while Hillary Clinton ran the agency.

The former first lady has avoided direct contact with the media in the days since launching her second presidential campaign.

Schweizer’s highly-anticipated book has been preceded by a series of reports based on its findings in the New York Times, the Washington Post and several other outlets.

The New York Times reported the Hillary Clinton messaging site would be live Tuesday morning.
