Russians angry over DNC hack accusations

Russian officials on Tuesday denied any responsibility for a leak of documents obtained from a hack of the Democratic Party.

“I don’t want to use four-letter words,” was Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s response to reporters when asked about the issue in Laos. Lavrov met with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who also inquired about the issue, earlier in the day.

A spokesman for the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, responded similarly. “We are again seeing these maniacal attempts to exploit the Russian theme in the U.S. election campaign,” Peskov said. “This is not breaking new ground, this is an old trick which is being played again. This is not good for our bilateral relations, but we understand that we simply have to get through this unpleasant period.”

The aftermath of the documents exposed by WikiLeaks, which included about 20,000 emails, was continuing to play out on Tuesday, and a spokesman for Hillary Clinton told reporters that she expected more hacked information to be released.
