Donald Trump Jr. is defending his father’s conversation with then-FBI Director James Comey about the investigation of former national security adviser Mike Flynn.
The president’s son on Wednesday retweeted Geraldo Rivera of Fox News saying: “News Flash, @realDonaldTrump hoping @JamesComeyFBI cuts @MikeFlynn some slack because he is a ‘good man’ is not close to #Obstruction.”
“Truth,” he said.

A report by the New York Times on Tuesday said Trump, in February, asked Comey to consider dropping the Flynn investigation.
A White House official has disputed the characterization of his comments.
“While the president has repeatedly expressed his view that Gen. Flynn is a decent man who served and protected our country, the president has never asked Mr. Comey or anyone else to end any investigation, including any investigation involving Gen. Flynn,” a White House official said. “The president has the utmost respect for our law enforcement agencies, and all investigations. This is not a truthful or accurate portrayal of the conversation between the president and Mr. Comey.”
