LeBron James: Trump ‘damn sure’ doesn’t run this country

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James doubled down on his criticism of President Trump after the commander in chief disinvited Golden State Warriors player Stephen Curry from a White House visit.

“The people run this country, not one individual. And damn sure not him” James said Monday in reference to Trump.

“He doesn’t understand the power that he has for being the leader of this beautiful country,” he continued. “He doesn’t understand how many kids, no matter the race, look up to the president of the United States for guidance, for leadership, for words of encouragement … That’s what makes me more sick than anything.”

James called Trump “a bum” on Saturday in response to the president’s tweet on Curry.

“U bum @stephencurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up!” James tweeted.

James also defended NFL players who kneel in protest during the national anthem. Trump called for those players to be fired in numerous tweets throughout the weekend and into Monday.

“It’s not about disrespect for flag and military and people who served,” James said Monday. “It’s about equality and having the option and freedom to speak about things they feel are unjust.”
