Two lucky ticket holders in California and Wisconsin are $316.3 million richer after Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot drawing, with the prize totaling more than $630 million.
The winning tickets to the $632.6 million lottery were sold in Green Bay, Wisconsin, and at a 7-Eleven in Sacramento, California, according to a press release from the California State Lottery.
POWERBALL PRIZE JUMPS PAST HALF A BILLION DOLLARS
The Powerball sequence began on Oct. 9, 2021, with the payout surpassing half a billion dollars on Sunday. The balls rolled 39 times without a winner until the victorious tickets were announced Wednesday.
“What a fantastic way to start the New Year,” Wisconsin Lottery Director Cindy Polzin said in a press release.
With more than 3 million tickets sold ahead of the drawing, the jackpot’s estimation rose to $632.6 million with a cash option of $450.2 million, according to Powerball. The two winners will divide the prize money, receiving an annuitized $316.3 million or $225.1 million cash each.

The two winning ticket holders have 180 days to claim their prize.
The winnings are the seventh–largest in Powerball history.
