Bill Clinton admits border ‘needs order’ in campaign stop in South Texas

AUSTIN, Texas Former President Bill Clinton stopped in South Texas a day ahead of the midterm elections to vouch for nine-term Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar and admitted that the southern border was in need of order amid the Biden administration‘s inability to fix the crisis.

“We do need border security. We need order. This is a country of order,” Clinton said during a speech before Democrats in Laredo Monday. “All my life, I’ve been pro-immigration, and the older I get, the more pro-immigration I get.”

Clinton said Congress ought to put forward reforms to the immigration system to avoid future surges of immigrants.

Under President Joe Biden, nearly 4 million people have been encountered attempting to enter the United States from Mexico without permission.

Cuellar is running against Cassy Garcia, a former senior staffer to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). The race for the 28th Congressional District, which spans from the Rio Grande Valley and Laredo on the border up to San Antonio, leans Democrat but is expected to be a close fight Tuesday.
