RNC plans to dethrone Lebron James for convention

A picture of Cleveland Cavaliers’ player Lebron James will be removed from the side of the Sherwin-Williams AmEx building before Republican National Convention attendees arrive for the July 18-21 event, building officials confirmed in a report published late Tuesday.

The lasered image is located on a building next to the Quicken Loans Arena, an update to the classic James sign that has become a popular background for selfies since the NBA team won the championship Sunday.

While some conservatives flocking to Cleveland for the convention would like to get a picture with King James, Republican officials have received permission from the property manager to use the wall for their own purposes.

The RNC will showcase a red, white and blue proclamation with the words “This Land Is Our Land” where James’ image currently rests, but will not mention presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump. A city design review committee approved the slogan and tricolor image in May.
