John Aniston dead: Days of Our Lives actor dies as star daughter Jennifer leads tributes

Legendary soap opera star John Aniston has died. He was 89 years old.

Aniston was best known for playing Victor Kiriakis on Days of Our Lives, a role he began in 1985, but actually started on the show in 1970 as Dr. Eric Richards.

After starring in Love of Life and Search for Tomorrow, he returned to Days in his signature role.

His daughter, Jennifer Aniston, posted a tribute on Instagram.

“Sweet papa …⁣ John Anthony Aniston. You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now. I’ll love you till the end of time. Don’t forget to visit,” she wrote.

Aniston also appeared on the first cover of Soap Opera Digest in November 1975.

“Our hearts are broken over the loss of our beloved family member John Aniston. We love you John. Your legend lives on,” the caption to his tribute video from NBC said.

At this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, John Aniston was awarded the Lifetime Achievement award, which Jennifer accepted on his behalf.


John Aniston also made appearances on Mission Impossible, Kojak, Airwolf, Gilmore Girls, and Mad Men. A cause of death has not been made public.
