‘This is a blue-collar boom’: Trump positions himself as pro-worker in State of the Union

President Trump positioned himself as a pro-worker figure during his third State of the Union speech on Tuesday, saying that low- and middle-income families are benefiting the most from his policies.

“Our agenda is relentlessly pro-worker, pro-family, pro-growth, and, most importantly, pro-American,” Trump said.

Trump said that the net worth of the bottom half of wage earners has increased by 47%, three times faster than the increase for the richest 1%. He also said that wages are rising fastest for low-income workers, who have had a 16% pay increase since his election.

He said this has resulted in “a blue-collar boom.”
