A woman died Sunday night in a two-alarm blaze in Whiteford that caused about $100,000 in damage to the home, officials said.
The blaze erupted about 9 p.m. at 1563 Main St. The cause of the fire and the victim?s identity are unknown, according to Faron Taylor, deputy state fire marshal.
“We have an idea who the lady is, but we don?t want to release it until we have a positive identification, for obvious reasons,” Taylor said. A
About 75 firefighters from Harford and York County, Pa., responded and brought the blaze “under control” in 40 minutes.
The medical examiner has not yet determined how the woman died.
Three other fatal fires in the county this year have claimed seven lives.
Fire investigators are trying to determine if the home had working smoke detectors.
