Trump takes 2-point lead over Clinton in Florida

Donald Trump has taken a slight 2-point lead over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Florida with under two weeks until Election Day, in a new Bloomberg Politics poll released Wednesday.

According to the new Sunshine State survey, Trump takes 45 percent support to Clinton’s 43 percent in a state Trump’s camp sees as vital to his path to winning the requisite 270 electoral votes. Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson takes 4 percent, while Green Party nominee Jill Stein wins 2 percent.

In a head-to-head matchup, the GOP nominee leads by a single point, holding 46 percent to Clinton’s 45 percent.

Trump’s advantage lies at the moment with independent voters, where he leads by 2 percentage points (43-41 percent). When third party candidates are added to the mix, his lead grows to 7 points (44-37), with Johnson at 9 percent and Stein at 5 percent.

The poll of 953 likely voters was taken from Oct. 21-24, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.

Overall, according to the latest RealClearPolitics average, Clinton still holds a slight lead over the real estate mogul, topping him by a slim 1.6 points.

While Trump leads Clinton, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio has taken a double-digit lead over Rep. Patrick Murphy. Rubio currently holds a 10-point advantage over his Democratic opponent, leading with 51 percent to Murphy’s 41 percent.

The incumbent Republican also holds a wide advantage with independent voters. He leads Murphy by 15 points with the group (51-36).
