Eric Trump lauds ‘astronomical’ fundraising for Team Trump

Eric Trump shot back Monday at critics of Donald Trump’s campaign after May’s feeble fundraising report, citing the campaign’s success at taking in funds so far in June.

Appearing on Fox News, Trump, a member of his father’s inner circle, lauded the number of small-dollar donations the campaign has received since beginning to take in money from supporters. He also said the campaign raised $6 million at an event in New York last week while also taking in another $3 million online.

“Money is flying in, people are excited,” Trump said during an appearance on “Fox and Friends.”

“It’s actually amazing. A lot of times, people talk about small donations, but the amount of small donations that we’re getting online is astronomical,” Trump said. “That shows the level of enthusiasm out there.”

Trump’s campaign started taking in campaign dollars from supporters only after the firing of campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and the May report showing Trump only had $1.3 million in cash on hand. The number was dwarfed by Hillary Clinton’s campaign, which reported $42 million in the bank.

Trump’s son also declined to go into specifics about some “major announcements” the campaign is making this week, which was teased by campaign chairman Paul Manafort. Manafort made the remark on “Meet The Press” on Sunday, involving filling top campaign posts after the departure of Lewandowski.
