The queen of genre-hopping will deliver the 2022 commencement speech to students at New York University, also receiving an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree, honoris causa, from the school.
In an effort to shake things up, NYU veered away from academics and politicians, opting for a more unique choice for commencement speaker.
The record-setting artist knows music “All Too Well,” according to fans who say the honorary degree in fine arts is wholly deserved. The comment references one of her most popular songs from the Red album.

The commencement will reportedly recognize members of the classes of 2020, 2021, and 2022 who have dealt with unusual university experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I cannot overstate how thrilled I am to be coming together in person with graduates, parents, faculty, and honorees for NYU’s Commencement. Since 2019, we have been deprived of Commencement’s festive, communal joy, and its absence has been keenly felt,” said NYU President Andrew Hamilton.
