Obama Presidential Center becomes target of online trolling

Former President Barack Obama’s Presidential Center became the butt of many jokes made online by politicians.

This Presidential Center is separate from Obama’s Presidential Library, but will borrow some artifacts from the National Archives to display at its location in Chicago’s South Side. According to its website, “the Center is a privately operated, non-federal organization.”

While the center won’t open until next year, 10 years after Obama left office, a post capturing the progress of the center’s construction invited criticism of the design.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) likened it to the Death Star from the Star Wars franchise.

“Locating the Death Star in Chicago was a bold move,” Cruz wrote Tuesday.

“This makes me want to cling to my religion and my guns,” Conservative Political Action Conference Chair Matt Schlapp wrote.

“It’s kind of…ugly,” Washington Examiner chief political correspondent Byron York wrote on X.

OBAMA’S UGLY CENTER IS A PERFECT SYMBOL FOR HIS PRESIDENCY

The center will cost roughly $830 million dollars, according to the Associated Press

Obama’s Presidential Library will be the 14th under the National Archives and Records Administration. This library will also be the first that will be fully digital. According to its website, already 95% of the records during Obama’s administration were digital to begin with.
