Waiting for Bernie … Still

The AP’s Dave Gram writes that Senator Bernard “Bernie” Sanders of Vermont continues to deliberate.  Should he declare himself a candidate for the Democratic party’s presidential nomination? A primary field that included Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, Jim Webb, and Martin O’Malley would be a lot more interesting and educational than a slow-motion coronation of Hillary Clinton, so one hopes that Senator Sanders will take the plunge and do so as a Democrat, not an independent.

For now, Sanders,

… says he’ll decide by March whether to launch a 2016 presidential campaign.

In the view of Kathy Sullivan, a member of the Democratic National Committee and a Clinton supporter:

“… the question is, is he a step too far for the mainstream of the Democratic Party? He is a socialist.”

And:

“I don’t think you’ll find the socialist wing of the Democratic Party is that big, contrary to what Republicans might think.”

Maybe.  Then again, maybe not.
