Authorities released a chilling new video along with images and a description of a man they believe murdered Rachel Morin, a Maryland mother of five who left for a jog two weeks ago but never returned.
Morin, 37, was reported missing by her boyfriend Richard Tobin on Aug. 5, several hours after her 6 p.m. jog at a popular trail in Bel Air, Maryland. Her body was discovered the following day and Harford County authorities said there was “no doubt” her death had been a “violent homicide.”

The sheriff’s office said Thursday night it had recovered DNA evidence from the scene of the crime linked to an unknown individual who allegedly assaulted a young girl in Los Angeles during a March home invasion. Harford County Sheriff’s Col. William Davis shared a brief clip from a security camera outside the young girl’s Southern California home that showed a shirtless man, approximately 5-foot, 9 inches tall, leaving the home.
Davis said the unidentified man was Hispanic, in his mid-20s, and weighed approximately 160 pounds. He added that investigators believe the man acted alone and “does not represent the entire Hispanic community of Harford County, who we are now partnering with to identify this suspect.”
It is unclear whether the FBI will get involved in the case as investigators on both coasts try to track him down.
“I think now it leads us down the path that we believe this was a person that Rachel probably didn’t know,” Davis added. “Potentially a random act of violence.”

While authorities had remained quiet on who might have been behind Morin’s death, it didn’t stop armchair investigators from jumping to conclusions and pointing fingers at members of Morin’s family as well as Tobin in the lead-up to Thursday’s announcement.

Tobin, who has a lengthy rap sheet, defended himself on social media.
“I love Rachel, I would never do anything to her, let the family and I grieve,” he posted on Facebook. “Yes, I have a past but I also have 15 months clean and have changed as a person. Please.”
