President Trump said Friday that the freshman Democrat who called him a “motherfucker” dishonored her family and disrespected the United States.
“I thought her comments were disgraceful,” Trump told reporters at the White House. “This is a person that I don’t know, I assume she’s new.”
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., said at a Thursday rally that she told her son Democrats would “impeach that motherfucker,” referring to Trump.
On Friday, Tlaib defended her comment, and said she would always “speak truth to power.”
But Trump said Tlaib disgraced herself.
“I think she dishonored herself, and I think she dishonored her family,” Trump said. “Using language like that in front of her son and whoever else was there, I thought that was a great dishonor to her and to her family. I thought it was highly disrespectful to the United States of America.”
The comment has also prompted some Democrats to say they don’t support Tlaib’s comment, and that it is too early to say whether anything in the Russia investigation demands Trump’s impeachment.
