Former President Barack Obama paid a visit to late President George H.W. Bush in Houston just days before Bush, 94, passed away.
During his scheduled trip to Houston earlier this week, Obama visited the Bush residence on Tuesday to check up on the former president and see how he was doing. Bush’s spokesman described the meeting as a “pleasant and private visit” between the two former presidents and one that was a rekindling of an already “warm friendship.”
President @GeorgeHWBush was very pleased to receive President @BarackObama this afternoon during his visit to #Houston. The two had a very pleasant and private visit at the Bush residence, where they rekindled what was already a very warm friendship.

Bush died Friday evening.
Obama and former first lady Michelle also visited Bush in April when they attended his wife’s funeral. Former first lady Barbara Bush passed away in April at the age of 92.
Obama released a formal statement early Saturday morning regarding Bush’s passing, arguing that the nation “lost a patriot and a humble servant.”
America has lost a patriot and humble servant in George Herbert Walker Bush. While our hearts are heavy today, they are also filled with gratitude. Our thoughts are with the entire Bush family tonight – and all who were inspired by George and Barbara’s example. pic.twitter.com/g9OUPu2pjY
