Three Baltimore County firefighters suffered injuries while battling a town house fire in Gwynn Oak on Christmas night.

A two-alarm fire broke out just before 10 p.m. on the 1100 block of Granville Road in Gwynn Oak at town house with no one inside, fire officials said.

At first, when they arrived, firefighters could see no evidence of a fire, but smelled smoke and went inside the home where they encountered “significant fire,” officials said.

About 70 firefighters with 20 pieces of fire equipment were able to bring the blaze under control by 11:32 p.m., the fire department said.

Three firefighters suffered minor burns while putting out the blaze and were transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Two have been treated and released, and a third was admitted for observation, according to the fire department.

One family has been displaced and is receiving help from the Red Cross, fire officials said.

The fire department is investigating the cause of the blaze.
