Two sentenced for trying to export night-vision devices

Two Indonesian men were sentenced in Baltimore Tuesday to a year and a day in prison for money laundering and attempting to illegally export night-vision devices.

U.S. District Judge Catherine Blake sentenced Reinhard Rusli, 35, and Helmi Soedirdja, 33, to the relatively light prison terms because she said they played minor roles in the scheme and provided assistance to authorities. Both defendants will be deported after they complete their sentences.

The men contacted undercover agents to acquire monocular night vision and holographic weapons sight devices, supposedly for the Indonesian military, prosecutors said.
