More than 100 Jewish Community Centers told Attorney General Jeff Sessions they are “frustrated” with his slow response to the rising number of threats against JCCs around the country.

A letter signed by 144 JCCs urged Sessions to take immediate action to advance the DOJ’s investigation into the bomb threats.

“We are frustrated with the progress in resolving this situation,” the letter said. “We insist that all relevant federal agencies, including your own, apply all the resources available to identify and bring the perpetrator or perpetrators, who are trying to instill anxiety and fear in communities across the country, to justice.”

Millions of Americans, both Jewish and non-Jewish, are part of JCCs, which offer educational services, senior programming, after-school and teen activities and a variety of recreational and fitness activities.

The letter’s signatories asked Sessions to meet with JCC Association leaders “to discuss specific steps that will be taken to deter further threats, discuss security needs, and seek justice,” and promise that the department will “treat this case with the utmost urgency it deserves.”

JCCs in more than 30 states have threatened over 100 times sign the beginning of January, though all have been hoaxes.
