Trump ‘absolutely’ willing to work with Dems on healthcare

President Trump is “absolutely” willing to work across the aisle on healthcare reform and has already fielded ideas from some Democratic lawmakers, White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Monday.

“Starting Friday afternoon through late yesterday, [Trump] has received a number of calls as well as other members of the senior staff that have been working on healthcare from members of both sides, saying that they would like to work together, offer up ideas, and had suggestions about how to come to resolution on this and get to a House vote on this,” Spicer told reporters.

Spicer said the White House has not “seen the end of healthcare” and will continue to entertain suggestions from members of both parties.

Working with Democrats on health care reform would mark a departure from Trump’s previous approach, particularly after he slammed the party last week for refusing to even consider the initial healthcare bill.

“We learned a lot through this process,” Spicer said. “I think we’re obviously looking at ways that we can improve not only how we handled healthcare, but other things, how we do everything.”
