In the aftermath of actor Will Smith’s Oscars slap, some of his projects have been put on hold.
Netflix has reportedly slowed down its work on Fast and Loose, a movie set to tell the story of a crime boss who is attacked and loses his memory.
A week before the Oscars, director David Leitch chose to drop the Netflix project and work with Universal’s Fall Guy. It is unclear whether Netflix will continue to pursue the project and look for a new director.
Sony’s Bad Boys 4 appears to be on hold also, a source told the Hollywood Reporter. Smith reportedly received 40 pages of the script prior to the Oscars.

Smith starred in the Apple+ drama Emancipation, which is in post-production and slated for a 2022 debut. Apple has not given a date for the movie’s release, declining to comment if Smith’s Oscars slap has changed its plans.

The actor resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Friday, saying his actions were “shocking, painful, and inexcusable.” The academy began a review of the shocking moment in which Smith took exception to a joke made by Chris Rock about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, during the Oscars and walked to the stage to slap the comedian.
