Meghan Markle reportedly filed a complaint over comments British broadcaster Piers Morgan made that cast doubt on claims she made during a recent Oprah Winfrey interview.
The complaint was made to network ITV after Morgan said he doesn’t “believe a word” Markle said during her interview with Winfrey. The interview revealed Markle contemplated suicide while serving as a working royal, and she also claimed that Buckingham Palace had “concerns” about how dark her son’s skin would be.
“I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report,” he said.
The Office of Communications, Britain’s broadcasting regulator, also launched an investigation under its “harm and offense” rules after receiving 41,000 complaints over the comments.
Morgan received pushback live on-air for his criticisms of Markle, sparking him to storm off the set of show Good Morning Britain this week.

It was then announced on Tuesday he was parting ways with the show.

Morgan, however, has stuck by his comments casting doubts on Markle’s claims, saying freedom of speech is a hill he’s “happy to die on.”
“On Monday, I said I didn’t believe Meghan Markle in her Oprah interview. I’ve had time to reflect on this opinion, and I still don’t,” Morgan tweeted Wednesday, accompanied by a photo and quote from Winston Churchill. “If you did, OK. Freedom of speech is a hill I’m happy to die on. Thanks for all the love, and hate. I’m off to spend more time with my opinions.”
