WATCH: Queen gives Princess Anne side-eye for shunning Trump

Queen Elizabeth II chided her daughter, Princess Anne, after she appeared to avoid shaking hands with President Trump and the first lady.

Trump, 73, visited Buckingham Palace while he was in the United Kingdom for the NATO summit on Tuesday. The president and the first lady met with members of the royal family during the reception and were greeted by the 93-year-old queen and her son, Prince Charles.

Anne, however, stood off to the side while the first family and the royal family embraced each other. The princess’s aloof response caught the eye of Elizabeth. The queen appeared to chastise Anne for hiding in the wings when Trump and Melania Trump arrived.

Anne shrugged off her mother’s criticism, earning a laugh from some in the room.

Elizabeth has had her hands full parenting her adult children lately. Beyond prodding Anne, she has also been attempting to clean up for her son, Prince Andrew, in the wake of allegations that he was associated with a sex trafficking ring run by Jeffrey Epstein.

The royal family has had the Duke of York distance himself from public events in Buckingham Palace, including the NATO reception. Elizabeth also canceled Andrew’s 60th birthday party that was scheduled for early next year.

The Trumps joined the royal family in Windsor Palace earlier this year at a state dinner while the president was in Europe for the 75th anniversary of D-Day. The first family did not stay at the palace, as was a tradition for previous presidents.
