Saturday in the Washington region was gloomy — rainy, windy and with threats of a tornado or flood.
The suburbs in Maryland and Virginia spent the late afternoon and early evening under a severe thunderstorm warning as rain and occasional wind gusts swept the region.
But compared to thunderstorms this summer that knocked out power for hundreds of thousands, relatively few outages were reported from Saturday’s storm.
As of shortly after 6 p.m., Pepco reported 2,245 customers in Montgomery, 2,379 in the District and 180 in Prince George’s without power. Dominion reported that 4,580 homes in Northern Virginia had lost power.
Flood warnings in the region are still in effect through Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
