Museum objects to millage ban bankruptcy bill

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Institute of Arts is raising objections to Detroit bankruptcy legislation that would prohibit the renewal of a property tax millage that provides the museum $23 million a year.

The Republican-controlled Michigan House voted 66-44 Thursday to prohibit the renewal of a 10-year, three-county property tax millage to support operations at the museum.
