Fatal police shooting in Silver Spring under review Montgomery County police are investigating the fatal shooting by one of their officers of a man armed with an ice pick outside City Place Mall in downtown Silver Spring.
Officer Christopher Jordan, who is now on administrative leave pending the investigation, responded to a 5:14 p.m. call Saturday that a man had assaulted a mall security official. He confronted the suspect outside, the “suspect refused to comply” in dropping his weapon and the officer shot him twice, according to Montgomery County Police. The man died at the scene.
The victim was later identified as Emmanuel Okutuga, 26, of no fixed address.
One dead, two injured in Northwest shooting
A woman was killed and two men wounded in a shooting in D.C.’s Columbia Heights neighborhood. The woman was 18-year-old Lucki Nancy Pannell. The two male victims’ names have not been released.
According to police, the shooting occurred around 7 p.m. Saturday outside Pannell’s residence on the 3000 block of Sherman Avenue NW. Pannell was found outside her home and died in the hospital. The two men ran from the scene and were found on the 700 block of Harvard Street, according to police.

Man killed in Northeast shooting
A man was found dead in a shooting near Anacostia Park in Northeast D.C.
Eddie A. Leonard Jr., 32, of Isherwood Street NE, was found by police in an alley behind the 400 block of 23rd Place NE. Police had responded to report of gunshots in the Kingman Park neighborhood around 11:45 p.m. Sunday. Leonard was pronounced dead on the scene.
