$45 million: Marketing budget for “The Hunger Games,” the first movie from the book trilogy of the same name. The film, which opens on Friday, is on track to have one of the biggest opening weekends ever. Tim Palen, marketing guru for Lionsgate, told Vulture they have handed out 80,000 posters, have put up 3,000 billboards and bus shelter advertisements and that the movie has been feature on 50 magazine covers. The film had a production budget of $80 million.
