Gray miffed at liquor store that accepted his stolen credit card

D.C. Mayor-elect Vince Gray is confounded as to why a liquor store processed his credit card when a 22-year-old woman presented it as hers on Thanksgiving Day.

“It’s hard to understand how someone would charge a credit card from a young woman when the name on it was Vincent,” the mayor-elect told The Washington Examiner on Friday morning.

Gray’s wallet was allegedly stolen by a CVS employee after he left it on the drugstore’s counter before leaving the store on Thanksgiving. The employee is accused of running up a nearly $40 tab, including $25.06 at Skyland Liquors in Southeast.

Gray called it an “unfortunate situation.”

“I hate to see someone having done what happened,” he said.

The CVS worker, 22-year-old Tamika Garris, has pleaded not guilty to credit card fraud.

Mayor-elect and wallet — with contents intact — have been reunited.
