Baltimore County Council members Tuesday appointed Mary P. Allen to serve as acting county auditor to replace the retiring auditor.
Brian Rowe, the current auditor, announced his retirement earlierthis month, citing plans to sue the county for what he considers the miscalculation of some employees? pensions, including his own.
Allen, Rowe?s current deputy auditor, has been working for the county since 1980. As a council employee, the auditor receives an annual salary of $154,000.
The auditor?s duties include reviewing the county?s budgets and conducting performance reviews. Rowe has served the position for 12 years.
