Twitter mob comes for Chance the Rapper after pro-Kanye West 2020 tweets

One of the most prolific rappers in the world found himself in hot water after implying support for Kanye West’s 2020 presidential run.

Chicago-born Chance the Rapper asked his supporters on Monday if they were for the two-party political system and why they believed Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, would be a better choice than voting for West.

“Are u more pro biden or anti ye and why? I get that you’ll want to reply that you’re just tryna ‘get trump out’ but in this hypothetical scenario where you’re replacing Trump, can someone explain why Joe Biden would be better??” he asked.

Chance, who is 27 years old and has won several Grammy Awards for his music, said he trusted West more than Biden and shared a video that West tweeted Sunday night, writing, “Yall out here tryna convince me to vote for Biden. Smfh.”

Chance was met with derision and outrage as many users on Twitter accused him of not faithfully participating in the political process.

“Ye made headlines spreading white supremacist lies about abortion, directly impacting the lives of Black and Brown women,” wrote Abortion Stories founder Renee Bracey Sherman. “He is casting doubt on the medical system and vaccinations *during a pandemic*. This isn’t a game, Chance. Our healthcare isn’t a rapper’s social experiment.”

The Libertarian Party, whose presidential nominee Jo Jorgensen has voiced support for Black Lives Matter, simply wrote, “Hell No.”

“The POTUS is attacking Dr. Fauci, Cruella Betsy DeVos is in charge of our kids, Americans are banned from everywhere I’d want to go, Chance the Rapper is promoting Kanye for POTUS because he loves his mother, and I literally can’t take anymore,” wrote Randi Mayem Singer, who wrote Mrs. Doubtfire. “Twitter break redux. See ya.”

West announced his intention to run for president under the new “Birthday Party” last week.
