Woman dies after being hit by train

The Maryland Transit Administration said a woman was fatally struck by an oncoming light rail train at approximately 12:15 a.m. Wednesday as she crossed the tracks about 200 yards north of the Patapsco Light Rail Station.

The train operator said that as the train proceeded north, it passed a southbound train. After the southbound train passed, a woman walked into the path of the northbound train coming from behind the southbound train that had just passed, MTA officials said.

The woman was then transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and was pronounced dead. She carried no identification on her person or in her belongings and appeared to be in her 20s, MTA officials said.
