Police are launching a wide-scale hunt for a Carroll County man they believe is responsible for five unarmed bank robberies in Baltimore County and one in Frederick since February.
Bryan Mitchell Johnson, 43, most recently entered the Wachovia Bank on the 11200 block of York Road in Cockeysville on Monday and handed a note to the teller demanding money, Baltimore County police said. He operated similarly in all other cases, including robbing that same bank April 19, police said.
Johnson, of Taneytown, also is accused of robbing or attempting to rob the F&M Bank in Frederick June 16, the Provident Bank on the 8600 block of Liberty Road in Woodlawn Feb. 27, Wachovia Bank on the 1700 block of York Road in Cockeysville Feb. 22, and an M&T Bank on the 100 block of Chartley Drive in the Franklin area Feb. 16.
Police said they believe Johnson, described as about 6 feet 1 inch tall with a medium build and black hair, frequents areas of West Baltimore City.
