Donald Trump will head to Texas next week for a series of fundraisers and a possible rally.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Trump will visit three cities in the Lone Star State on June 16 — beginning with a fundraiser in Dallas and continuing to Houston and San Antonio the following day.
Ray Washburne, a Dallas-based fundraiser coordinating between the Trump campaign and Republican National Committee’s fundraising efforts, confirmed Trump’s Texas visit, and told the Dallas Morning News they’re “getting a lot of enthusiasm from donors to come meet him and hear him.”
On the other side of the political aisle in Texas, the sentiment isn’t similarly shared. In an open letter published on Monday, Rep. Filemon Vela, D-Texas, called Trump a racist and told the presumptive nominee to shove the proposed border wall “up your ass.”
June 16 not only marks the day Trump is set to arrive in Dallas, but it’s the first day of the Texas Democrats’ statewide convention in San Antonio, a city approximately 275 miles south of Dallas.
Trump’s upcoming visit marks the first time in nine months the business mogul will be in state. Last September, Trump held an estimated 15,000-person rally in Dallas, and in July, Trump traveled to the Texas border town of Laredo in a highly publicized, four-hour trip.
