Former FBI Director James Comey has been replaced in what was a pre-scheduled testimony in an open session of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday.
The office of panel chairman Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., emailed an updated witness list for the annual World Wide Threats hearing to include Andrew McCabe, the FBI’s acting director.
McCabe assumed the position as FBI head after President Trump abruptly fired Comey on Tuesday.
Burr said the firing troubling “troubled” him.
According to Burr’s office, witnesses at the hearing “will provide a comprehensive overview of the current and projected national security threats to the United States and our national interests, both at home and abroad.”
CIA Director Mike Pompeo and Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats are also scheduled to testify.
