Trump fires back: ‘Nancy is a mess’

President Trump responded to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi calling her party a mess and full of people guilty of “many crimes.”

“Now, look, Nancy is a mess,” Trump told reporters Tuesday minutes before he was set to leave for a campaign event in Council Bluffs, Iowa. “The Democratic Party is a mess. They are doing everything they can to win the election in 2020. They are guilty of many crimes, many, many crimes, what they’ve done. They are guilty of many, many crimes, and hopefully in a short period of time that’ll be seen. They should never have done what they have done, and all they do is waste time on these investigations where there’s no obstruction, no collusion, no nothing, and in the meantime they can’t get a border deal done. They can’t do anything.”

Trump’s criticism of the California Democrat came after Pelosi said the same day that she thrives when the president criticizes her.

“My stock goes up every time he attacks me. So what can I say?” Pelosi said at the Peterson Foundation’s 2019 Fiscal Summit.

“Let’s not spend too much time on that because that’s his victory. The diverter-of-attention-in-chief. We’ll talk about this instead of talking about the fact that the president of tariffs and trade and all the issues, in terms of what we need to do for our country to solve some of the challenges that we face,” she added.

The most recent tiff between the leaders came after Trump took aim at Pelosi in the U.K. while on a state visit.

“I think she is a disgrace,” Trump said in an interview minutes before a ceremony honoring the 75th anniversary of the Allied D-Day landings. “I actually don’t think she’s a talented person. I’ve tried to be nice to her because I would have liked to have gotten some deals done. She’s incapable of doing deals. She’s a nasty, vindictive, horrible person.”

Pelosi said Tuesday she thought the attack was inappropriate.
