Police warn mocking fugitive’s receding hairline could ‘be against the law’ as jokes pour in

United Kingdom authorities are warning people against mocking a wanted convicted drug dealer’s receding hairline, or else they could face criminal charges of their own.

The Gwent Police Department in South Wales shared 21-year-old Jermaine Taylor’s mugshot on Facebook last week, asking for information on him after he violated his parole following his December release from prison for supplying controlled drugs and cocaine. The image, which featured his receding hairline, was widely mocked in the comments.

Police, however, issued a warning in response a few days later, asking people to “please remember that harassing, threatening and abusing people on social media can be against the law.”

“Our advice is to be as careful on social media as you would in any other form of communication,” they wrote. “If you say something about someone which is grossly offensive or is of an indecent, obscene or menacing character, then you could be investigated by the police.”

Taylor’s whereabouts remain unclear.
