Rep. Jim Jordan predicted that his home state of Ohio will vote for President Trump in November and is willing to bet his house on it.
“I would bet my house that that’s not accurate and that the president is going to win the state just like he won it in 2016 … I think he’s gonna win by more,” Jordan said in response to polling showing Joe Biden leading or tied with Trump in the Buckeye State.
“There were people from the airport to the Whirlpool plant, people lining the highway, Trump flags, Trump banners, Trump hats, it was great to see,” Jordan said about Trump’s appearance at a manufacturing plant in Clyde, Ohio, on Thursday to sign an executive order requiring the government to purchase certain drugs and medical supplies domestically instead of overseas.
Manufacturing and trade are key reasons why Jordan said he believes Trump will win by a larger margin in Ohio than the 8-point margin he defeated Hillary Clinton by in 2016.
“Because it’s about the trade policy, his willingness to stand up to China,” Jordan replied when asked why Trump’s visit to Ohio was important. “His willingness to stand up for the American family and the American worker that was on display. This plant was in trouble. What was happening with Whirlpool in the competition they faced and different things that were going on, the dumping the steel and everything else. This president has stood strong, and the folks there at the Whirlpool Plant, they understand, and right now they are humming along. They are selling washers and dryers, and dishwashers like you can’t believe because this president is fighting for hard-working families all across this country, and he got a great reception.”
He added, “So I feel really good the president gave a great speech and the people of Ohio know that this president is Ohio manufacturing and American manufacturing’s best friend.”
Trump used his time in Ohio to tout the economy and also harshly criticized his 2020 opponent.
“He’s following the radical left agenda,” Trump said about the former vice president, adding that Biden intends to “take away your guns, destroy your Second Amendment, no religion no anything, hurt the Bible, hurt God, he’s against God, he’s against guns, he’s against energy, our kind of energy.”
