The head of the Baltimore Police Department’s trial board has been granted a $30,000 raise by the city’s Board of Estimates.

The raise was part of a restructuring of the position held by Joanna Branch, city officials said Wednesday. Branch’s title had been assistant counsel.

The reclassification of Branch’s job includes a promotion to the rank of commander and a raise from the current salary range of $57,000 to $76,000 per year to a new annual salary range of $77,000 to $105,000 per year.

City officials said the raise reflected added responsibilities for Branch, who administers trials for the police disciplinary board.
