Ukrainian officials will not participate in the impeachment hearings against President Trump, according to Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko.
Prystaiko said no one in Ukrainian leadership will testify in impeachment hearings.
“We don’t have anything to do with this at all,” he said. “We won’t go there, we won’t comment.”
Prystaiko claimed relations between the United States and Ukraine have been unfazed by the international drama surrounding Trump’s impeachment. He noted, however, that most communications between the two nations are happening under informal channels.
“There are channels that are specially separated from the official ones, but this does not mean that the official ones don’t know what is happening,” Prystaiko explained.
The whistleblower’s report that became the cornerstone of the House’s impeachment effort alleged Trump withheld military aid from Ukraine in order to force an investigation into Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied Trump pressured his administration. Trump has also defended the call, calling it “perfect” after releasing the transcripts to the public.
