Senate panel to vote next week on subpoena related to Hunter Biden

A Senate committee plans to vote next week on a subpoena related to the Republican-led investigation into Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian energy firm that once employed Hunter Biden on its board.

The Senate Homeland Security Committee is expected to vote Wednesday on Chairman Ron Johnson’s request to subpoena Blue Star Strategies, a Democratic public relations firm, as part of its investigation tied to the Bidens, according to Politico.

Johnson, a Wisconsin Republican, had originally planned to subpoena Andrii Telizhenko, a former consultant for Blue Star Strategies, but backed off those plans amid concerns about his credibility.

Blue Star Strategies represented Burisma Holdings, the Ukrainian gas company that employed Biden on its board while his father, former Vice President Joe Biden, was leading the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy.

Johnson announced the investigation as the elder Biden’s chances of winning the Democratic presidential nomination increased after his tremendous win in South Carolina.

The Wisconsin Republican, who insisted he’s “not focused on the Bidens,” alleged the company “sought to leverage Hunter Biden’s role as a board member of Burisma to gain access to, and potentially influence matters at, the State Department.”
