Roseanne Barr teases filing lawsuit after ABC fired her over Valerie Jarrett tweet

Actress Roseanne Barr is considering filing a lawsuit over her 2018 firing from ABC for her tweet comparing former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett to the Planet of the Apes.

Barr joined Saturday Night Live alum, Norm MacDonald, on Sunday for an episode of Quarantined With Norm Macdonald on his YouTube channel. The actress has been in Hawaii during the coronavirus pandemic, and she said social distancing has given her a lot of time to consider legal actions after ABC canceled her reboot of Roseanne two years ago.

“I have the time now to research and come up with the perfect lawsuit,” she said, adding, “The lawsuit I’m going to wage against Hollywood.”

Barr was fired from the network after tweeting, “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” in response to another user’s claim that suggested Jarrett helped former President Barack Obama hide secrets.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” Channing Dungey, the president of ABC Entertainment, said in a statement at the time.

Barr apologized for the tweet and claimed it was the result of taking the prescription drug Ambien.

“I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans,” Roseanne tweeted. “I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”

She told MacDonald in the laid-back interview that she plans to “f— over everybody in the f—ing world over there.”
