Just in time for Independence Day, the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association has introduced a new Heritage Pass that allows city visitors one-time admission to some of the city?s most historic attractions.

This four-day pass is the latest addition to BACVA?s Connect Baltimore ticketing program, which includes the three-day Harbor Pass and the Seaport Day Pass in addition to individual tickets to various attractions.

“I think it will help expand people?s knowledge of the historical attractions here in Baltimore,” said Michael Pietryka, BACVA?s director of hospitality services. “Any time we can teach something new about Baltimore, it could encourage extended stays or repeat visits and that all contributes to greater economic impact to the tourism industry in Baltimore.”

The new pass is available at the Baltimore Visitor Center, at www.baltimore.org and from the association?s call center, 1-877-Baltimore. The Heritage Pass sells for $38 for adults and $23.50 for children.

The pass includes one-time admission to the Baltimore Maritime Museum, the Carroll Mansion, the Jewish Museum of Maryland, the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture, the Top of the World Observation Level and the USS Constellation Museum.

Pietryka said that the pass represents savings of 22 percent compared with purchasing the ticket individually for adults and a 15 percent saving for children.

Besides admission to the museums, the pass also provides discounts at other area attractionsand restaurants.

“The other fun thing about passes like this is not only does it help these historical attractions by expanding visitors? knowledge of the area, it also encourages overnight stays since the pass is available for four days,” Pietryka said

Anne Pomykala, a board member of the Carroll Museums, said that the reason the Carroll Museum partnered with BACVA was to raise awareness of attractions on Baltimore?s eastside.

“Our original goal was to get people from the Inner Harbor to come to the museums on Baltimore?s eastside,” Pomykala said. “We?re hoping that this pass will facilitate that so we?ll have more visitor presence in our museum.”
