Benjamin Rosenberg gets right down to business.
The managing partner of Rosenberg, Martin and Greenberg LLP, a multifaceted law firm, Rosenberg believes in cutting to the chase. By getting to the heart of the matter straightaway, Rosenberg is able to maximize his time and properly balance the oversight of 30 lawyers, 50 total staff and 6,000 clients.
“My job is to give people the resources, material and support to assist them in doing their job,” said Rosenberg, a 62-year-old Baltimore native and 1969 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law. “I want the people that work here to realize what they can accomplish with their talents, skills and abilities.”
Rosenberg was a partnerat Venable LLC until late in 1987, when he broke out on his own with Barry Greenberg, Bob Proutt and Gene Funk. Together, they started the firm that is still located at 25 S. Charles St. in Baltimore City. While the firm has never left the building, it has expanded and taken up more and more room, capitalizing on its specialties of litigation and appellate practice. For the young lawyers, the success of their firm was never a matter of “if,” just a matter of “how.” Today, the firm remembers its roots and looks after its employees with little “thank yous” such as refrigerators stocked with soda and water, bagels on Fridays and thank-you notes around the holidays.
“This firm has a reputation as being different, and there is a real human side here, and it?s because of Ben Rosenberg. He is a very selfless and thoughtful individual who looks out not just for the clients but the well-being of the firm and the personnel,” said Andy Baida, a partner in the firm for the past three years. “People really enjoy working here, and it?s because they are treated in a respectful manner and that?s what makes [Ben] a real successful managing partner.”
In his free time, Rosenberg enjoys traveling with his wife and taking one of his favorite fly-fishing trips to Montana. Last fall, Ben and his wife of 25 years, Dee, traveled to France and visited Normandy and Brittany. They also took a chance to recently fly out to San Francisco and visit their newborn first grandchild. A trip to Turkey and Greece is in the works for their silver anniversary.
“We?re big tourists,” Rosenberg said. “If there?s a sight to see, we?ve seen it.”
