Rudy Giuliani: Trump may answer more Russia investigation questions

Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani said special counsel Robert Mueller may attempt to ask President Trump questions related to obstruction of justice, after Trump provided Mueller with written questions related to Russian interference and collusion with the Kremlin during the 2016 election.

“It’s not on the table, but could be put back on the table,” Giuliani said, according to CNN.

Trump submitted written answers to Mueller on Tuesday, and Giuliani said the questions were related to Trump’s knowledge of the June 2016 Trump Tower meeting between Donald Trump Jr., Trump campaign officials, and Kremlin-tied lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. The questions also concerned Trump’s comments about damaging information on his Democratic challenger Hillary Clinton and requesting Russia to unearth Clinton emails.

Giuliani said he didn’t expect any of the answers to surprise Mueller’s team and indicated that there could be more questions Trump needs to answer. However, he indicated that Trump’s legal team would push back on questions concerning the transition and Trump’s time in executive office.

“We’ll consider them and answer them if necessary, relevant and legal,” Giuliani said. “If it was something that would be helpful, relevant — not a law school exam.”

It also remains uncertain if Trump will sit down with Mueller in an in-person interview. But Trump claimed earlier this week that a sit-down interview was unlikely.

Mueller is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election and whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin. He is also examining whether Trump obstructed justice after he fired former FBI Director James Comey.
