‘Established liar’: Conservatives mock CNN for hiring former FBI number two Andrew McCabe

Conservatives reacted to CNN’s hiring of former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe with hoots of derision.

McCabe was fired from the FBI the same day he was planning on retiring after the Justice Department’s inspector general concluded that he improperly leaked information to the media and then “lacked candor” in three interviews under oath with federal investigators.

On Friday, it was announced he was becoming a paid CNN contributor.

Since leaving the FBI, McCabe has vigorously defended his record there, writing a book, and calling for President Trump to be removed from office.

This month, he filed a lawsuit accusing Trump of abusing his power by pushing for him to be fired. He claimed his dismissal was unjust and called for the judge to compel the Justice Department to award him back pay and a full pension.

He was also influential in the Russian collusion investigation.

Many on the right argued that McCabe’s alleged lying under oath as something that should disqualify him from joining a cable news network. Some slammed CNN because anchor Brian Stelter said just said that former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her predecessor Sean Spicer “deserve outrage and backlash” for their new respective roles on Fox News and Dancing With The Stars.

When Fox & Friends host Steve Doocey read the news aloud on the air, Judge Jeanine Pirro laughed and fill-in host Katie Pavlich said, “Amazing, amazing.”

Missouri GOP Sen. Josh Hawley tweeted, “Good work, CNN. Love to see that commitment to serious journalism.”
